Dubrovnik
Dubrovnik
Croatia has suffered over the years from destruction due to war and fighting from serbo-montenegrin forces but now the country is safe and conflict free it has been restored to its beautiful and peaceful self. It is becoming one of the most popular travel destinations in Europe. Dubrovnik was founded in the 7th Century and was then developed to become a very highly developed port. This is the reason for the medieval walls that border the city, in the 12th century the walls protected the city from outside intrusion. Dubrovnik can be characterised by the Roman remains and the beautiful coastline surrounding which allows for an Ideal Mediterranean break.

Travelling Most visitors travel by plane to the Dubrovnik International Airport which has direct flights to most European countries and is a small distance from the old town. The most scenic way of travelling to Dubrovnik is by car as there are so many magnificent views on the journey. You can take a car on the ferry from Split, Rijeka or Italy. If you wish to hire a car you can do this online with the car hire company specialists, Car Rentals.co.uk who can offer you a great deal wherever you would like to hire a car.

Alternatively you can stay in one of the nearby costal areas of Konavle or Peljesac which have plenty of accommodation in a shapes and sizes from guesthouses, bed and breakfasts, short term rentals and hotels.
